COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT ASSOCIATION

The Colorado National Monument Association (CNMA) is an outdoor-focused nonprofit based in Grand Junction, CO, committed to supporting the Colorado National Monument through a variety of initiatives. Since its establishment in 1964, CNMA has served as a vital partner to the park, though its visual identity and community presence have evolved over time.

As the organization approaches its 60th anniversary, it was clear that a fresh, modern look was needed to reflect its legacy and vision for the future. Thanks to the generous grant support of the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF), the Dave and Mary Wood Fund, and the City of Fruita, we were able to craft a revitalized brand identity. This updated look and feel will ensure CNMA continues to inspire and connect with the community for the next 60 years and beyond.

Mood Boarding

Concept option 01

Capturing the bold, hard-edged lines of sandstone, we create a brand path that embodies modernity and strength.

Concept option 02

Harkening back to the plein air painter’s hand, we create a brand path that takes note of nature's beautiful messiness.

Often times in the process we pull our favorites from each concept to create a marriage.

Visual Identity

The rebrand process unfolded somewhat unexpectedly. While working on designs and sourcing logo assets, I discovered that the necessary files were missing or outdated. My suggestion was to digitize the logo and in doing so created opportunity to fully refresh the logo. This logo uplift allowed us to align it more seamlessly with the new branding style we were developing, ensuring it resonated better with the overall visual identity and goals of the project.

Print Material

A top priority for CNMA is to care for the Monument’s ecosystem through sustainable practices. When designing their marketing materials, we pondered hard on ways to give these items a second life. To help mitigate waste, we took the time to illustrate iconic scenes that capture the park's beauty, hoping these handouts and mailers would find their way to the fridge or, for those who really love them, between a frame.

“Stray Wild was fantastic to work with in developing our brand guide! Giving us a cohesive look with authentic design. They were flexible and easy to work with. They took the time to dive into our archives and built an understanding of our organization that informed our designs and brand elements. We really appreciated this extra effort which has added to the authenticity to our brand and visual assets.”

Website Redesign

Colorado National Monument Association was in major need of a website redesign. Built about a decade back, their web presence reflected the early days of HTML. With the support of the WCCF grant and the amazing development skills of MSB Agency we carved out a new site that reflected today’s browsing experience. The redesign not only revitalized their online presence but also ensured it aligned with the needs of today’s users.

Campaign Design

In 2024, the Colorado National Monument Association celebrated its 60th anniversary! To commemorate this momentous milestone, they decided to create a range of swag items to share with their dedicated members—those who have supported their efforts from the past to the present. One of our favorite ideas was a tie-dye mug, a playful nod to the psychedelic vibes of the 1960’s, perfectly tying the era to the celebration.
